Two New Timelapses!

Category: timelapses

In our spare time JS and I have sat down and recorded two new timelapses. Timelapse (sped-up) videos are one of our ways of demonstrating our workflow to others.

Most of my timelapses up-to this point have been fictional creatures modeled from my head, or sometimes a references. This time around I chose to go for a more realistic take on things and model a full male human head, start to finish.

Just as heads are my specialty, Vehicles are JS’s, and thus appropriately chose to model a futuristic jet-car in his video. JS’s model really shows how a lot of simple geometry can go a long way in providing lots of detail and a great look!

Enjoy!

Note: ignore the “Real-time” and “3x” indicators on my video. The speed is messed up and so those are incorrect; I don’t actually model that fast ;)

Disturbingly Good modeling on both. You have gone through college and learned 3D right? I’m not a complete failure? XD anyway, where did you get the reference images for the head model… I looked a while back when I was going to make one, and there were almost no good references I saw. if you would, I’d appreciate links to the images…

Great video. Always a joy to see a master at work. They have already given me ideas about changes I’d make to projects I’m working on.

I don’t know about others but as a newbie to Blender a crib sheet of common blender tools, keystrokes and functions you use on these projects. It would be a great learning resource for those watching to better follow and understand what’s going on in the demonstration.

It all happens a bit quick sometimes to catch how you do things at times… well it is time laps doh!

Great modeling and … great music - especially in the Jet Car Timelapse! Could you post where to get/buy it please!? Or perhaps you could send me an e-mail!?

    This is very educational.

P.S. I have a question - Do you listen this music while modeling?

  9. Jean_R June 4th, 2008 8:38 am

@ Poisos “The belly of an Architect” by Wim Mertens.

This album is the music of a film that have the same name.

If u like it, try Yan Tiersen, Phillip Glass, Michael Nyman.

About the music I used in my video. The author is Wim Mertens and the music come from the movie “The Belly of an Architect” from director Peter Greenaway(excellent movie!). I found a copy in a small store (the soundtrack of the movie). Glenn Branca is also on the disk (composor who created along with Wim Mertens a song or two for the movie).

It’s really hard to find tho, so good luck. (Maybe you can be lucky as I was tho..hope so! His music is fantastic!) And yes, I listen to that music while modelling!

Blayn: Tutorials are coming! So stay tuned! Make sure to check our tutorial section for the existing tutorial from Jonathan!

@Eggyolk, http://www.3d.sk is just about the best resource out there for references.

@czarek, I almost always listen to music while modeling, and this same music a lot of the time. I find it both very relaxing and inspiring :)
