Character Creation DVD Progress
Hello everyone, I’m pleased to say that the upcoming Character Creation Training DVD is half way through the recording stage! I’ve recorded the whole introduction bit, where I introduce the new user to Blender’s interface and modeling tools, next is to do the actual character! For those you that have no idea what I’m talking about jump on over to the announcement thread on the BlenderArtists forums: http://blenderartists.org/forum/showthread.php?t=116567&highlight=training+dvd

Found your site through BlenderNation. I’m new to Blender and have been going through the mesh model tut in the Essential Blender book. Its a bit slow going but I’m retaining everything. My main goal is character modeling, animation and particle/fluidics. I’m happy doing fantasy stuff but want to do more realistic human characters (for my short film). I would LOVE to be able to do this for cash too. My only concern is the fact that it is NOT Maya or 3dSmax. As a freelancer, this may not matter. But I thought I would get your opinion/advice as you are doing what I want to be. I’ve got no formal art training and can’t draw to save my life (something else I should probably get into), and REALLY REALLY do not want to go deeper in debt (thank you higher learning) by going back to school. I saw your time lapse vids, very nice!
In any case, just a friendly hello from up in the Great White North.

Hi Erik! As a freelancer I wouldn’t worry in least about Blender NOT being Maya or 3DS Max, Blender has really made it’s mark on the CG industry in the last few years and has become a very respected and powerful application. As long as you can do the work most clients won’t care what application you use : )
